40 Days for Life - Day 7

Our Lady of Guadalupe
Intercessor of the Unborn

To help stop the anti-life push in the U.S. the late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen encouraged the spiritual adoption of an unborn child. This is done by praying that one particular but unknown child's life be spared abortion and be allowed to continue to live.

To help accomplish this, it was recommended, an individual say the following daily prayer for a period of one year.

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion."

During your earthly life this spiritually adopted child of yours will be known only to God but in the world to come it is hoped that you will meet the child whose life was spared by your prayers and spend eternal happiness with them.

October is a month of Rosary and it was wonderful for me to start October, yesterday, with a morning mass at 7:30 am at St. Mary Magdalen Church and then at 10 am, though at Planned Parenthood, but fervently praying 20 decades of rosary during 3 hours of Prayer Vigil.

I guess I kept staying there for 3 hours each time I go there to pray. But it was worthwhile. I met wonderful people, including Michelle - God bless her!! It was very refreshing to be with such dedicated people. I am sure that I am usually surrounded by wonderful people, but for whatever reasons, I don't talk much about issues around Respect for Life.

Again, I am very grateful for the opportunity to pray for the babies who were mutilated in the name of abortion...for the convenience of mothers and/or fathers; for the babies in danger of being aborted; for so many women who know not about the spiritual and most probably physical dangers of contraception; and for the people involved directly or indirectly in the abortion industry!

I thank God for all the caring people who are coming out in the cold weather to pray for the same cause... to save babies and for the conversion of the hearts.

It was also the moment of conversion for me as I realized how passive I have been! I have to make a confession about how I did not think about the so-called "Crack" babies. Now I have another prayers to say for the other sufferers. For whatever reasons, people get into drugs and the babies are suffering because of that. But that does not mean those innocent babies should be killed.

I have to make yet another confession for not being very good about fasting... I should really be fasting & being on my knees so that there will be no more killing!!!!!

I was going to leave at noon after 2 hours of praying, but a woman came all by herself to pray and I meant to just pray the Glorious mystery with her. (Thank you, Michelle & Helpers of God's Precious Infants...for providing us with pregnancy resource materials, especially the prayer book - the wonderful meditations for rosary - from Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life) Recalling how she sheepishly introduced herself as not knowing much about Prayer Vigil as this was her first time, with a lovely story about the gold-turning Medjugorje rosary, a thought came through my mind as she was in tears as we were meditating through our prayers...our Church as many sleeping giants as her...so faithful and her prayers so powerful...and they are finally coming out and praying together...moving my hearts, drawing tears in my eyes, out of desperation for the lives of our babies...

+Praise Lord and I trust that we are fighting the victorious battle...we will win at the end. But we must persist in prayers!
