"...every lie is alien to the truth."
A simple truth, yet I frequently fall. But fear not, as Blessed John Paul II would remind us...for God so loves us in the most merciful way.
As Fr. Simon Yi (a Salesian priest currently in Mongolia, in his New Year's email message) observed through parents encouraging their toddlers after their stumbling through their Christmas performance, today I can imagine God smiling at my childish anti-social unloving behaviors in the midst of Christmas season family gathering, encouraging me to get up and follow Him...and see that He is patient, accepting, unconditionally loving, and respectful of our being...because we are made in His image.
Through Word Among Us 12/31/2011 Meditation, God reminded me and showed me how I can follow Him, through examination of conscience after Sacrament of Reconciliation (what grace!), in which He showed me an array of His Goodness, i.e. Kindness, Patience, Love, Humor, Hope, etc. through His faithful servant priest at a humble confessional in a small town in midwest.
The process of examining my conscience has been a struggle for me, a huge stumbling block for my growth (i.e. spiritual/character formation).
Yes, to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him is where I am heading, with daily examination of conscience, with regular participation of Sacraments (esp. Eucharist - including Eucharistic Adoration - and Reconciliation)...
I want to Rediscover Catholicism! Thanks to Fr. Egan's reminder! What a great Christmas gift!
+Thanks be to God, Merry Christmas everyone as we continue the Christmas season through 1/9/2012, and a Happy 2012. Amen.
Virtues are formed by prayer. Prayer preserves temperance. Prayer suppresses anger. Prayer prevents emotions of pride and envy. Prayer draws into the soul the Holy Ghost and raises man to Heaven. - St. Ephrem +++Oremus. May we stay on course, through daily self-denial, taking up our ✝️, to follow Him - to know, love and serve God - with the guidance of the Declaration of Truth, by Cardinal Burke & other leaders, 31 May'19... May the Holy Spirit help us to understand and guide us. Amen.
